Where your data lives
Homecart stores everything on your iPhone first; the list works without a connection. Once online, the app syncs with your household via a server in Germany. Stored there: household, device names, lists and guest groups; no ads, no tracking, no selling. Details in the privacy policy.
Back up with Apple
The server knows your household only through a secret key on your iPhone. Lose the phone or delete the app and the key is gone. Sign in with Apple additionally attaches Apple's identifier to your household: on a new device one tap brings you back, with lists, stores and rhythm. Only your first name is used; no email, no password. “Sign out of Apple” leaves the list on the device and the household on the server; signing in again brings you back.
New iPhone or reinstall
Install Homecart, then either Sign in with Apple (if you had backed up) or Join a household with your code (from another member or your photo of it). Get Pro back with “Restore purchase”.
Deleting data
Remove a single device under Sharing & household; its assignment is gone at once. To delete the whole household with all lists, email info@homecart.app with your household code. We delete within seven days and confirm.
Notifications
Under Settings → Notifications choose: Everything from the others (every new item by others, plus assignments to you), Only what's assigned to me or Nothing. Checking off never notifies. Plus the evening reminder on shopping day when something is due. Homecart only shows the system permission prompt when you turn notifications on there.
Appearance
Settings → Appearance: colour theme (Klar, Fresh, Carrot, Berry; all but Klar are Pro), light / dark / automatic and the headline font (serif or sans). Lists and controls always use the system font.
Language and currency
Homecart speaks English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch and follows your iPhone's language; Siri and the sorting understand items in all of them. The settle-up currency is set when the household is created, from the iPhone's region.
